Our coffee cup lids are made from crystallised polylactic acid (CPLA). Crystallisation is achieved by applying high pressure and heat to PLA, making the material less susceptible to heat degradation. Offering a secure, leak-proof fit for our hot EcoCups, ranging between 110ml and 500ml, our CPLA lids are also available to purchase in a black variant.

Industrial Composting

Our CPLA coffee cup lids are certified compostable to the EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 standards for industrial composting, verified by DIN CERTCO, which requires the compostable product to:

1) disintegrate after 12 weeks, and

2) completely biodegrade after six months. (This means that 90% or more of the material will have been converted to CO2. The remaining share is converted into water and biomass – i.e. valuable compost.)
